Happy Planet launched online in Australia in 2003.
We work hard to develop and supply sustainable, novel and healthy products at affordable prices.
Health and happiness begin at home which, is where the heart of Happy Planet rests. Three family generations are now actively involved in the operations and development of Happy Planet. In March 2006, Happy Planet moved into a Burleigh Heads warehouse and showroom facility with over 150m2 storage at below zero temperature to ensure all our hemp food products are maintained to the highest quality.
Due to expansion, Happy Planet relocated to Hendra in Brisbane in May, 2007 for one year and then to our present location at Stapylton, halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, exit 38 from the M1 with easy access. Look for the big purple building! Customers are most welcome to come and visit our showroom.
The first product distributed by HappyPlanet.com.au was spring water. During a 2 year period, Happy Planet distributed over 150,000 Litres of spring water contained in 15L PET bottles. We were the first company to exclusively distribute PET bottles (recyclable) rather than the traditional Polycarbonate bottles.
During this time, we added a range of delicious low preservative wines in association with a Canadian group.
In 2004, we became aware of how unsustainable spring water delivery by truck or van is. We ceased delivery of spring water and began to focus on more sustainable products and industries. |  |
 | After much investigation and research, we chose to focus on the Hemp Plant and the myriad of products from food to fibre that are sustainably and economically manufactured from it.
Planet Hemp Products was born and have been actively promoting and supplying Australian grown and made hemp products since 2004, when
Planet Hemp Products executed the largest contract in Australia to date to farm industrial hemp. |
Over the last 3 years we have developed our range to provide something that can be used and enjoyed by everyone in the family, including your pets.
In 2006 we launched
Skoobie Snax winner of the 2007 "Finest Feast Award" at the Paws and Claws Journal Inaugural Awards; and Superior Health Choice for dogs containing the superior protein source, hemp seed, as well as essential fats, omegas 3, 6, 9 and GLA, an important fatty acid, particularly for women and usually found in Evening Primrose Oil. |  |
In May, 2007, Happy Planet moved and expanded to a 2000sq.metre sugar milling warehouse in Hendra, Brisbane. Happy Planet installed the first ever proprietary anaerobic milling system in the world, certified organic, enabling us to not only mill sugar and industrial hemp but grains as well. Most importantly, this means that we now control the processing of our hempseed from the farm to the consumer.
Due to the increased demand by consumers for everything hemp, farmers now know there is a market for their hemp crop. Unlike most crops, hemp requires little water and NO chemicals and very little attention during growing. The large leaves shade the ground, preventing weeds from taking hold and lower leaves fall to the ground turning into a nutritious
compost for the soil. Hemp crops yield 4 times the pulp compared to the same area of trees. Hemp is a clean, renewable resource - good for the planet - good for the
body.
We are very excited that not only our own milling trials, but independent trials,
have conclusively reported that whatever is milled in our innovative new technology Z Mill retains all its nutrients. No other milling process can do that. Once these trials have finished, organic flours and powders from grains, seeds and dried fruit shall be available to Happy Planet customers on our shopping
website.
