Z Mills Chooses Stapylton as the location for World’s-First No-Oxygen Milling System

 

Z Mills, organic raw food processors have commissioned their innovative new milling system at Stapylton, ideally situated in south-east Queensland, central to farms in Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Z Mills stands for - zero-oxygen, zero -light, zero-heat, resulting in zero loss of nutrients and zero wastage of all raw foods milled.

The milled products have a longer shelf life because they have never been subjected to an outside environment. “When a consumer opens a packet of flour processed by Z Mills, it’s the first time that the raw food has been exposed to atmospheric conditions. Until that point there are few, if any enzymes activated”, said CEO Thomas Cunliffe.

Current milling technologies have changed little in 150 years and in an industry as diverse and progressive as the food industry, the demand for choice is unmistakable. Processors are now reliant on the broadening of their services to include high quality, value added products, as global supply increases competition for their standard products. By using this milling system, innovative food processors will be years ahead of their opposition, able to offer their customers choices that are beyond the reach of their competitors.

Grains are a staple food in every culture. Current conventional milling processes damage many of those essential parts of the grain which are vital to the health of consumers including those parts of the grain which should be providing roughage and essential oils - which has been clearly identified as critical in preventing colon cancer and other debilitating conditions.

 In comparison, the Z Mills milling process retains all those parts of any grain or plant which should be available for the nutrition and on-going vitality of consumers. In this way, the milling allows organically grown grain and plants to be processed and packaged without any loss of the benefits for which it was originally produced.

The Z Mills Milling System is possibly the greatest niche food milling technology in the world today. No comparable milling systems offer the advantages of the Z Mill. The Z Mill will not replace mainstream food processing equipment, but will revolutionise the niche markets of high-quality foods, functional foods and organic food processing.

Because of the energy efficiency, compact size, the sealed tower and the new, efficient Nitrogen generation, it means that, for the first time, it is possible to create a viable “Oxygen Free” milling and packaging environment. This process eliminates rancidity, which is a major health problem and also provides a much longer shelf life. “As fresh as the moment it was milled” is now a reality.

For the first time, the mill will also be able to process hard grains such as brown rice and hempseeds without rancid effects, opening up opportunity for entirely new product lines. The Z Mill will use up to 30% less energy than its conventional equivalents while retaining grain roughage, essential oils, minerals and fibre that substantially increase the nutritional value of processed grain product staples such as flour.

Organic farmers and the Biological Farmers Association are delighted with this innovative new milling technology as they work hard to grow nutritional crops only to have 80% of the nutrients depleted during traditional milling.

Z Mills are conducting milling trials and toll processing for a number of national and international customers, with early results exceeding expectations.
